Celebrations and Sacraments
The curriculum centers on the study of Catholic Doctrine, combined with the constant effort to inspire consistent growth in a solid prayer life.
Liturgies during the school day include Mass, Sacrament of Reconciliation, and other prayer services. Students in grades 2-8 receive the Sacrament of Penance throughout the year. We encourage parents to receive this sacrament with their child(ren) frequently in their home parish. Students participate in the Stations of the Cross during the Season of Lent. Parents are encouraged to attend liturgical celebrations. Non-Catholic students will attend all liturgical celebrations and participate as permissible.
Each parish schedules its own preparation for the Sacraments; therefore, more responsibility is given to the parent as the primary educator. Children in 2nd grade prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion; in 7th and 8th grade the Sacrament of Confirmation, depending upon the parish. Parents of children who are receiving these sacraments share with the priests and teachers the privilege of preparing their children for these sacramental experiences.
